Ousmane Sonko has publicly declared his intention to file a motion of no confidence against the Senegalese government, led by Prime Minister Al Aminou Lo. Speaking at a gathering in Touba, the leader of PASTEF unequivocally stated that his party is prepared to utilize this parliamentary mechanism to challenge practices he deems unacceptable.
During a recent event in Touba, part of PASTEF’s 48-hour program, Ousmane Sonko issued a stern warning regarding a potential motion of no confidence targeting the government under Prime Minister Al Aminou Lo. The prominent PASTEF figure underscored that his political movement would not hesitate to employ this legislative tool if current governmental directions persist.
Addressing party activists, Ousmane Sonko asserted, « We will deploy every legal instrument at our disposal, including the motion of no confidence, to bring down the government, and we will do so as frequently as necessary. » The PASTEF president justified this stance by emphasizing that his political faction cannot tolerate practices that contradict the fundamental principles for which its members have vigorously fought.
« We have engaged in a decade-long struggle, marked by immense sacrifices and the loss of martyrs. We will not permit the establishment of such practices, » he declared. Through this powerful statement, Ousmane Sonko firmly positions the motion of no confidence as a central element of his party’s political strategy against the government. He considers this parliamentary recourse a legitimate means to oppose decisions he disapproves of, affirming PASTEF’s readiness to invoke it whenever circumstances demand.
