During a recent address, Chérif Bouna Samsidine Aïdara articulated his view that Sénégal is navigating through a period of considerable difficulty, advocating for a national embrace of peace and resilience. This, he emphasized, is crucial for the nation’s well-being.
“We are observing challenging circumstances at the highest echelons of government, a genuine crisis within the state leadership. Our national leaders must be afforded the space and time to collaborate and find common ground,” he stated.
The speaker underscored the imperative for the two principal figures of the executive branch to adopt a stance of enduring resilience, thereby safeguarding the country’s foundational stability.
“The President of the Republic must embody resilience. Similarly, the Prime Minister must also demonstrate this quality. They are called upon to internalize the principles of the International Day of Peace to guide Sénégal along the most beneficial path,” he further elaborated on iRadio.
According to Chérif Bouna Samsidine Aïdara, the prevailing atmosphere is generating considerable apprehension among the Senegalese populace.
“The events unfolding and the narratives we encounter in the media do not instill confidence. The people of Sénégal are experiencing fear. We earnestly hope our nation avoids such critical situations at the pinnacle of its leadership,” he affirmed.
He concluded by issuing a direct plea to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, urging them to prioritize dialogue and foster an environment of appeasement for the ultimate benefit of the nation.
