Rabat recently hosted the Morocco-India Economic Forum 2026, an event spearheaded by the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services (CCISRSK), in collaboration with the Indian Embassy in Morocco and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
This high-profile gathering brought together a significant Indian delegation, comprising 21 prominent business leaders from key strategic sectors, alongside Moroccan economic stakeholders from various industries. The primary objective was to explore avenues for establishing enduring partnerships and fostering mutually advantageous investments.
During the forum, Hassan Sakhi, President of the CCISRSK, emphasized how the enduring friendship between Morocco and India has blossomed into a robust, diversified, and continuously expanding economic partnership.
In a speech delivered on his behalf, Sakhi observed that high-level ministerial initiatives and strategic memoranda of understanding (MOUs) between Morocco and India underscore the dynamic political ties shared by both nations.
He further added that the presence of such a diverse Indian business delegation, representing sectors like automotive, agriculture, information technology, healthcare, and energy, signals the increasing interest Indian stakeholders have in the Moroccan market.
The impressive volume of bilateral economic exchanges clearly reflects the momentum in trade between the two countries. Morocco is keen to further amplify this dynamic, recognizing India as a crucial commercial partner renowned for its vast technological and industrial expertise.
Mohan Puri, who led the CII delegation, expressed his belief that both nations possess the capacity to forge a formidable partnership linking India, Morocco, and the wider African continent, highlighting Morocco’s substantial potential and capabilities.
He lauded the abundant opportunities Morocco presents, particularly in renewable energies, green hydrogen, aviation, defense, and digital technologies. Puri noted that the Kingdom serves as an ideal platform for businesses from both countries to implement various projects and advance technological development.
The forum’s proceedings included an institutional video showcasing the economic strengths and investment prospects within the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, complemented by a documentary detailing Morocco’s business environment and the latest updates to its investment charter.
A memorandum of understanding was also formally signed, aimed at boosting trade, investments, and industrial collaborations between India and the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region.
The forum concluded with a dedicated networking session and successful B2B meetings between the participating delegations.
