The recent diplomatic visit to Rabat by the British Minister of State for International Trade, Chris Bryant, has cemented a significant leap forward in the relationship between the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Morocco. This evolution marks the beginning of a deeper collaboration defined by a new strategic partnership.

London identifies Morocco as a premier destination for economic growth and investment. During his stay, Chris Bryant revealed an ambitious roadmap to double the current volume of bilateral trade over the next five to seven years. This expansion seeks to build upon the existing economic foundation between the two nations.

Following high-level discussions with Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Bryant noted that trade figures currently hover around £4.5 billion. The goal is to see this exchange reach approximately £9 billion in the near future, reflecting the United Kingdom‘s confidence in the Moroccan market.

A key pillar of this alliance involves the management and execution of major international sporting events. The United Kingdom is eager to support Morocco as it prepares to host the 2030 World Cup. To facilitate this, Bryant was accompanied by a delegation of roughly 50 British companies, all specialists in the logistics and organization of global sports competitions.

The visit coincided with the Morocco-UK Business Forum, providing a platform for private sector engagement. Moving forward, both governments are set to convene for the fourth session of the Morocco-UK Association Council, further institutionalizing their cooperative efforts across multiple sectors.
