The Rally for the Homeland and Modernity (Rassemblement pour la Patrie et la Modernité, RPM), a key member of Gabon’s ruling coalition, has formally commended President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema for his “intensive dedication to national service” during a 21-day period from August 9 to August 30.
The party’s statement, titled From action to outcomes, highlights several landmark initiatives launched during this time. Among them are sweeping healthcare reforms, ongoing infrastructure projects across Libreville, and targeted development programs in the Ogooué-Ivindo province. The RPM also praised the President’s hands-on approach, which included multiple site visits and direct engagement with local communities.
One of the most significant announcements came on August 30 in Makokou, where 55 billion Central African CFA francs were pledged to the health sector. This funding will be allocated as follows: 44 billion for upgrading national medical facilities, 6 billion to reopen cafeterias within hospital complexes, and 5 billion to enhance services provided by the National Health Insurance Fund (CNAMGS). The RPM views these measures as a direct response to long-standing public concerns and has urged swift implementation to ensure tangible benefits for Gabonese citizens.
In addition to the health sector investment, the RPM pointed to the inauguration of multiple critical facilities in Greater Libreville, including healthcare centers, commercial hubs, government offices, and defense installations. In Ogooué-Ivindo, 17 large-scale projects were launched in conjunction with the celebration of the Liberation Day on August 28 in Makokou. The party also highlighted progress on the Mayiga residential housing program, with 50 units completed, 25 under construction, and plans for 500 additional plots as part of a broader effort to decentralize development beyond the capital.
The RPM echoed a statement made by President Oligui Nguema: “The time for promises must give way to the time for results.” The party emphasized its commitment to this principle, asserting that the true measure of success lies in how these initiatives improve daily life for all Gabonese people.
The communiqué also welcomed the high-profile visit of Democratic Republic of the Congo President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo to Libreville, which culminated in the signing of three bilateral cooperation agreements between the two nations.
In closing, the RPM encouraged continued momentum in government efforts, focusing on project execution, sustainable infrastructure use, and youth employment initiatives. While reaffirming its unwavering support for the administration, the party stressed the importance of unity and modernization in shaping Gabon’s future.
The RPM, led by Vice President Alexandre Barro Chambrier, has been a steadfast ally of President Oligui Nguema since the April 2025 presidential election, maintaining its political independence while contributing to the coalition’s success. The party currently holds three seats in the National Assembly.
