Khady Diène Gaye fires back at Abdourahmane Diouf over debt claims

The former Sports Minister expressed her shock at claims that Ousmane Sonko had allegedly endorsed a debt restructuring deal.

Khady Diène Gaye, a former member of the government who served alongside Abdourahmane Diouf, has strongly refuted the minister’s assertions that Ousmane Sonko, now President of the National Assembly, had agreed to a debt restructuring proposal. She described herself as stupefied upon hearing these allegations.

In a scathing rebuttal, the Pastef party spokesperson dismissed Abdourahmane Diouf’s statements as blatant falsehoods. Her opening salvo was blunt: “Failure follows Dramane everywhere—now it’s time for grotesque lies!” She went on to recount how she was nearly floored by the minister’s claim that Sonko had backed the debt restructuring move.

Khady Diène Gaye didn’t stop at challenging the factual accuracy of the remarks. She also took aim at Abdourahmane Diouf’s personal and professional journey, suggesting that he had struggled and failed repeatedly in his attempts to return to public life. She even went as far as questioning the credibility of his law school admission in 2007-2008, implying his efforts had been in vain. This personal dig only amplified the sharpness of her response.

Beyond the personal attacks, she accused the minister of pursuing politics for self-serving motives rather than the public interest. In her view, Abdourahmane Diouf had chosen politics to exploit opportunities rather than to serve. Concluding her outburst, she urged Pastef supporters to remain steadfast, calling on “patriots from all walks of life” to stay focused on building a sovereign, prosperous, and just Senegal.
