Tchad accelerates freight digitalization with BNFT’s landmark training
A three-day intensive workshop in N’Djamena equipped freight controllers with cutting-edge digital tools to streamline terrestrial transport operations nationwide.
The Bureau National du Fret Terrestre (BNFT) has successfully concluded a groundbreaking three-day training program in N’Djamena, marking a significant leap toward digitalizing the country’s terrestrial freight sector. Held at the Kempinski Hotel N’Djamena, the workshop brought together freight controllers and representatives from across the country, including N’Djamena and Mayo-Kebbi, to master new digital platforms transforming transport administration.
During the closing ceremony, Brahim Mahamat Adoum, head of the steering committee, praised participants for their dedication throughout the intensive sessions. He highlighted that the training covered essential digital modules, including freight declaration systems, transporter management, agency configuration, and system parameterization. These innovations are designed to enhance administrative efficiency and provide real-time tracking of freight operations across Tchad’s transport networks.
BNFT’s leadership emphasized that this initiative aligns with national efforts to modernize public services and accelerate digital transformation. The shift to digital tools is critical for managing mandatory documents like the Lettre de Voiture Obligatoire (LVO) and Taxe à l’Essieu (TAE), ensuring rigorous oversight of transport activities. Technical partners from TRADELINK SOLUTIONS and SERVOO were recognized for their expertise in equipping participants with the skills needed to implement these changes.
Digital platform e-BNFT revolutionizes freight management
Saleh Youssouf Erda, Director General of the steering committee, underscored the workshop’s focus on training agents to fully leverage the new e-BNFT digital platform. This system replaces traditional paper-based processes with a seamless, contactless digital workflow. Freight documents such as the LVO and TAE can now be issued and verified instantly via computers or mobile devices, drastically reducing delays and improving operational transparency.
Erda also stressed the platform’s role in securing state revenue and generating reliable statistical data to inform economic policy. This digital overhaul reflects the broader modernization vision championed by President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, aimed at creating a more efficient and transparent public administration.
Next steps: embedding digital practices nationwide
As the workshop concluded, participants were urged to integrate their new skills into daily operations and share their knowledge with colleagues. The closing ceremony concluded on a note of optimism, with a call to sustain momentum in overcoming the challenges of digital transformation within Tchad’s transport sector and public administration.
