The governments of Morocco and France are convening this Thursday, July 16, in Rabat for the 15th high-level meeting between the two nations.

This session, held under the banner of the “enhanced exceptional partnership” linking Morocco and France, will be led by their heads of state—King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron—according to an official statement from the Moroccan government.

Speaking in Rabat—with strong ties also evident in cities like Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, and Laâyoune, where he recently inaugurated the first Alliance Française—French Ambassador Philippe Lalliot emphasized that bilateral cooperation goes beyond dialogue to active, daily progress. The envoy made these remarks alongside Mohamed Saad Berrada, Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, who represented the government in the discussions.

During the event, Ambassador Lalliot highlighted the depth of the Morocco-France partnership, referencing a July 2024 letter from President Macron to King Mohammed VI. In that message, France reaffirmed its stance that the future of the Sahara is firmly tied to Morocco’s sovereignty.

The French diplomat also underscored France’s role as Morocco’s top foreign investor and largest foreign employer, noting that French businesses have played a pivotal role in shaping Morocco’s industrial landscape for over a decade.

Outlining the agenda for the high-level talks, Ambassador Lalliot identified three key priorities:

  • Joint solutions for global challenges, including enhanced security cooperation;
  • Strengthening economic sectors that will drive future growth in both countries;
  • Fostering cultural and societal ties, especially among young people, who represent the future of Morocco-France relations.
