In Abidjan’s Cocody district on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Brédoumy Soumaïla, spokesperson for the PDCI-RDA, reaffirmed his party’s firm stance: the creation of a unified electoral body necessitates direct political dialogue among key stakeholders, rather than mere informational briefings.
Speaking from the Party House during a press conference, Soumaïla revealed that the PDCI-RDA has formally requested the government to initiate this crucial dialogue without delay. He emphasized, “Our recent history clearly demonstrates that lasting peace and social cohesion are unattainable without genuine consultation.”
Soumaïla expressed disappointment over the head of government’s invitation to political factions for an “information-only” meeting, which he deemed inadequate. He affirmed that the party would persistently reiterate its demand for an extensive negotiation framework whenever the need arises.
Furthermore, the PDCI-RDA insists on the complete revision of the national electoral list before the close of 2026, aligning with the Electoral Code’s provisions. Brédoumy highlighted the failure to conduct the scheduled 2025 revision, despite it being fully funded by the state budget, with no official explanation provided. He stressed, “The government is obligated to account for the management of these funds to Ivorian taxpayers.”
The spokesperson concluded by stating, “The populace is appealing to the PDCI-RDA for assistance. This help will materialize through President Cheick Tidjane Thiam, aiming to reclaim state power for the advancement of all and the prosperity of every individual.”
