Government reshuffle targets pro-Sonko officials in key agencies

In a sweeping restructuring move, the administration of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has initiated a second wave of leadership removals across critical state bodies. The dismissals, announced this week, reflect a strategic shift aimed at consolidating institutional alignment with the government’s agenda.

Port authority and professional training agencies see leadership changes

The most prominent departure involves the removal of Waly Diouf Bodiang, long-standing director of the Port autonome de Dakar, a pivotal economic gateway for the nation. Replacing him is Doune Pathé Mbengue, a seasoned administrator with a background in public sector reform initiatives. Mbengue’s appointment signals a fresh direction for port operations, emphasizing efficiency and governance.

Babo Amadou Ba, a key figure within the Pastef party and former coordinator of its national cadre network, has also been relieved of his duties as head of the Fonds de financement de la formation professionnelle et technique (3FPT). His successor, Soulèye Kane, brings expertise in vocational training policy to the role.

In Touba, a major religious and economic hub, Lamine Barra Lô’s tenure as director of the Office national de la formation professionnelle (ONFP) has concluded. Mame Awa Ndoye steps into his position, tasked with revitalizing the agency’s training programs to meet evolving labor market demands.

Agricultural and pharmaceutical sectors undergo leadership updates

The state-run pharmaceutical supply chain, SEN-Pharmacie nationale d’approvisionnement, has also seen a change at the helm. Karamba Diallo now oversees operations, succeeding Seydou Diallo, a former Pastef activist and local leader in Keur Massar. The transition underscores the administration’s commitment to administrative reform across all sectors.

These adjustments mark a deliberate effort to realign institutional priorities and ensure cohesive policy implementation across Senegal’s public administration.
