In a significant move to address long-standing financial concerns, Alfred Ikaka Bobe, the Director General of Gabon Poste, announced on Tuesday the introduction of a new digital application. This innovative tool is designed to allow savers with frozen assets to conveniently verify their names on the official lists compiled by the liquidator, all from the comfort of their home or office.
Accessing the platform is straightforward for anyone with a computer or smartphone; simply navigate to https://www.ccp.laposte.ga to begin the verification process.
The online platform, which debuted last Monday, experienced an overwhelming response, recording approximately 10,000 visits within just a few hours, leading to temporary saturation. However, Mr. Ikaka Bobe confirmed, “The application has been successfully updated and will be fully operational starting this Wednesday.“
Savers are now required to confirm their current living status and specify their preferred location for receiving payments. This digital solution extends its reach to Gabonese savers residing outside the country, ensuring comprehensive access.
It is important to note that only those savers officially registered by the liquidator who have unfortunately lost their passbook are instructed to visit a post office in person to obtain a replacement.
This initiative comes as a direct response to the 2017 collapse of PostBank SA, a subsidiary of Gabon Poste, which resulted in the freezing of numerous individuals’ savings. Following years of unfulfilled promises under the previous administration of Ali Bongo Ondimba, the transitional government, in February 2025, publicly committed to resolving this outstanding debt. The situation affects an estimated 60,000 savers, with a substantial fund of 31.212 billion CFA francs earmarked to clear the debt over a three-year period, with disbursements occurring in annual thirds.
