On May 25, 2026, Chad’s Minister of Public Security and Immigration, General Ali Ahmat Aghabache, issued a directive to all security forces to heighten vigilance around public and worship sites in anticipation of Tabaski.

The official communiqué emphasizes strict implementation of security protocols to safeguard mosques, churches, and other places of worship, alongside markets, government buildings, and all public gathering spaces during the Eid al-Adha celebrations. Security personnel are required to maintain maximum alertness throughout the festive period.

Tabaski, also known as Eid al-Adha, is one of the most significant Islamic holidays, featuring large communal prayers, animal sacrifices, and family and community gatherings. These traditions naturally draw large crowds to religious sites and marketplaces, making enhanced security measures essential.

The announcement follows a period of ongoing regional security challenges. Strengthening security around public spaces aims to ensure uninterrupted and peaceful celebrations for all communities observing the holiday.
