The Ministry of Mines celebrated excellence in public administration this week as it recognized outstanding contributions from civil servants tackling the Democratic Republic of Congo’s mining sector challenges.
Minister Louis Watum Kabamba presided over the Buanya Prize ceremony at the Pullman Grand Hotel in Kinshasa, where 48 civil servants from the National School of Administration (ENA) were honored for their strategic proposals.
The competition, launched under the minister’s leadership, challenged participants to develop innovative solutions across key mining themes including governance, transparency, artisanal mining regulation, geological exploration, and equitable resource distribution.
“The DRC’s central role in the global energy transition demands responsible transformation of our mineral resources into development drivers,” Minister Kabamba emphasized, calling on laureates to champion integrity and innovation in public service.
The initiative aligns with President Félix Tshisekedi’s vision, implemented under Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka’s coordination, prioritizing human capital development and good governance in public sector transformation.
The ceremony concluded with a group photo, marking the beginning of what participants described as an enriching experience that will strengthen youth involvement in Congo’s mining transformation.
