On July 30, Ousmane Sonko, President of Senegal’s National Assembly, paid a courtesy visit to Serigne Mountakha Mbacké, the Khalife général des Mourides, to reaffirm the nation’s reverence for this sacred occasion.
During their meeting, Sonko conveyed the highest respects to the spiritual leader, emphasizing the profound spiritual significance of the Grand Magal. He highlighted the event’s historical roots, which honor the exile of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba, the revered founder of the Mouride Brotherhood.
