The 58th ordinary session of the Inter-Parliamentary Committee of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (CIP-UEMOA) is underway in Niamey, drawing high-level attention to the region’s financial and legislative priorities. Against this backdrop, Dr. Mamoudou Harouna Djingarey, Chair of Niger’s Advisory Council for Refoundation (CCR), hosted a pivotal meeting with a visiting parliamentary delegation from the UEMOA community.
Budget 2027 and long-term financial roadmap take center stage
The CIP-UEMOA delegation, led by Fononna Cheick Ahmed Coulibaly in his interim capacity, outlined the core objectives of their discussions with Nigerien authorities. Central to the agenda was the presentation of the 2027 budget proposal for the Inter-Parliamentary Committee, alongside a multi-year budget framework spanning 2027 to 2029. Coulibaly emphasized the strategic nature of these deliberations, stating:
« During this engagement, we briefed the Chair of the CCR on the outcomes of our deliberations, focusing on the adoption of next year’s budget and the structured financial planning that will guide our collective efforts in the coming years. »
Mid-year review and strategic planning for the second half of 2026
The parliamentary team also reviewed the progress made during the first six months of 2026, assessing achievements and identifying gaps. Key priorities for the latter half of the year were discussed, including the allocation of necessary financial resources. Seeking strategic guidance from the CCR Chair, the delegation aimed to accelerate the momentum toward deeper regional integration within the UEMOA bloc.

Coulibaly commended Niger’s unwavering dedication to fostering solidarity among UEMOA member states. The seamless organization of the session in Niamey was highlighted as a testament to the strong ties between the Advisory Council and the Inter-Parliamentary Committee, reinforcing the country’s role as a champion of dialogue and collective progress in West Africa.
