The diplomatic ties between Morocco and Gambia have entered a new phase of harmony in Rabat. Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita met this Thursday with his Gambian counterpart, Sering Modou Njie, who arrived in the Kingdom’s capital as a special envoy of President Adama Barrow.

The central focus of this visit was the presentation of a letter written by Gambia’s head of state and addressed directly to Mohammed VI, underscoring the close communication between the two leaders.

Express gratitude for Morocco’s socio-economic support

Following the meeting, the Gambian foreign minister addressed the media to convey his government’s and people’s gratitude to the Moroccan monarch.

Njie praised Morocco’s unwavering support for Gambia’s socio-economic development, emphasizing that this commitment has yielded tangible results through the signing of numerous bilateral agreements and the implementation of strategic projects that directly benefit the population. These joint initiatives are closely coordinated under the strategic guidance of Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad.

Shared vision for enhanced regional cooperation

During his remarks, the Gambian minister emphasized his country’s strong determination to further strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

He affirmed that current relations are not only excellent but are also rooted in solid values of brotherhood, solidarity, and reciprocal interest, reflecting the shared vision of Mohammed VI and President Adama Barrow for the well-being of both nations. This bilateral roadmap for partnership and regional growth aligns with the diplomatic priorities of Gambia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad.
