During the second day of his official visit to Libreville, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, who presides over Madagascar’s Republic Refoundation, undertook a comprehensive tour of several significant landmarks across the Gabonese capital on Saturday, June 6. Accompanied by Hermann Immongault, the Vice-President of the Government, Colonel Randrianirina explored the Cité Émeraude, the scenic Baie des Rois, and the prominent Cité de la Démocratie. Within the Cité de la Démocratie complex, his itinerary included visits to the grand banquet hall, the expansive Congress Palace, and the esteemed Omar Bongo Ondimba museum.
Following this intensive exploration of Libreville’s key sites, the Malagasy leader conveyed his strong belief that the developments he witnessed in Gabon serve as compelling evidence of a continent undergoing profound transformation. For Colonel Randrianirina, these substantial achievements vividly demonstrate the collective determination of African leaders to modernize their respective nations and vigorously accelerate their development trajectories. “Everything I have observed in Gabon clearly illustrates the commitment of many African presidents to modernize and advance their countries, and indeed, the entire African continent,” he affirmed. While acknowledging that direct replication of the Gabonese model might not be feasible due to differing national contexts and processes, Colonel Michaël Randrianirina nonetheless commended the remarkable results achieved by Gabonese authorities throughout their Transition period.
He expressed admiration for Gabon’s ability to execute certain projects that were widely perceived as challenging, if not impossible, to complete within such a short timeframe, yet Gabon successfully brought them to fruition. Consequently, he articulated a clear intention to draw valuable lessons from Gabon’s experience, aiming to bolster the refoundation process currently underway in his own country.
“As you mentioned earlier, we intend to learn from Gabon’s journey to effectively guide Madagascar’s refoundation process, with the ultimate goal of leading our nation to presidential elections as swiftly as possible,” he emphasized. His stated objective is evidently to steer Madagascar towards a presidential election within the shortest possible timeframe. Colonel Michaël Randrianirina concluded his official visit, departing from Libreville yesterday in the late morning.
