The Colonel Michaël Randrianirina arrived in Libreville last Friday for a working visit aimed at fostering stronger ties with President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema.
This meeting forms part of a broader effort to enhance friendship and cooperation between Gabon and Madagascar. The Malagasy President embarked on a two-day official visit to Libreville, where he met with his Gabonese counterpart at the Palais de la Renovation. Discussions centered on deepening bilateral collaboration and Madagascar’s ongoing national rebuilding process.
During the visit, the Malagasy delegation attended a briefing by Professor Guy Rossatanga-Rignault, outlining key milestones in Gabon’s transition and the guiding principles behind its return to constitutional order. President Oligui Nguema reiterated Gabon’s commitment to supporting Madagascar’s institutional restoration efforts.
In response, the Malagasy leader expressed interest in learning from Gabon’s governance and institutional strengthening strategies. Following their productive talks, both heads of state praised the robust relationship between their nations. It is worth noting that Colonel Randrianirina took office in Madagascar in October 2025 after mass youth protests erupted over severe water and electricity shortages, leading to the resignation of former President Andry Rajoelina.
