L’association continue d’œuvrer au Mali.

The 16th annual meeting of the Association for Supporting the Village of Forgho in northern Mali took place recently, bringing together members to review ongoing efforts despite the country’s mounting challenges.

Chairperson Marie-Jo Mennelet opened the session with a sobering update: “I don’t have very good news from the country, which is experiencing even tougher days than before.” She detailed how jihadist attacks, severe shortages, water and electricity cuts, rising prices, and extreme heat are making daily life increasingly difficult for local populations.

Despite this, the association remains deeply connected with its partners in Forgho and Bamako, continuing to respond to their needs with loyalty and solidarity. The moral report highlighted that schools in Forgho and Kotchekaraï remain open, unlike many institutions in northern and central Mali. While no new sponsorships were launched this year, existing ones continue thanks to the generosity of members and donors.

Aid provided has funded school supplies for the new term, the canteen, DEF exams, medicines, seeds, and various maintenance projects at schools and villages. Although few events were organized this year, the association benefited from donations collected during concerts and theater performances.

The financial statement remains positive, with income mainly from donations, memberships, and sponsorships. Expenditures have prioritized school support, medicines, seeds, the Bamako orphanage, and various one-off assistance for families and teachers.

After unanimous approval of both reports and renewal of board members, the assembly concluded with a traditional friendship drink and warm exchanges.
