Strengthening border security: Tchad and Central African Republic launch new joint initiative
Military leaders from Tchad and the Central African Republic convened in a high-level coordination meeting to bolster security along their shared border. Chaired by General Moubarak Abakar Nassour Hor, commander of the Tchad-Central African Republic joint force, the session focused on assessing recent joint operations and addressing emerging security threats.
Evaluating past operations and current challenges
Participants reviewed the outcomes of Operation Al-Hamamia 1 and Operation Al-Hamamia 2, which targeted cross-border criminal activities and insurgent movements. Discussions highlighted both successes and persistent vulnerabilities in certain hotspot areas.
Planning for enhanced border control
The meeting culminated in the approval of a new strategic framework, Operation Sentinelle, developed by the G5 Sahel task force. This initiative aims to deploy additional military units equipped with fixed and mobile surveillance outposts along the frontier.
The enhanced deployment is designed to:
- Strengthen monitoring of suspicious cross-border activities
- Accelerate response times for joint security forces
- Deepened coordination between Tchadian and Central African Republic defense units
Protecting communities and securing key regions
According to General Moubarak Abakar Nassour Hor, the new operation will significantly improve protection for border communities while countering evolving security threats. The initiative underscores the commitment of both nations to safeguard their populations and reinforce regional stability.
