Major investments in defense and security infrastructure

Several Ivorian daily newspapers highlighted today the inauguration of key defense and security infrastructure in the northern regions of the country. Infrastructure projects worth over 8 billion FCFA

In Korhogo and Ferké, two strategic cities in the north, new military facilities have been commissioned. These include health centers, maintenance workshops, and logistical bases designed to support military operations. The total investment exceeds 8 billion West African CFA francs, with substantial contributions from the European Union.

The European Union’s role in this initiative is particularly notable, providing equipment and infrastructure valued at 200 million Euros. This support underscores the EU’s commitment to enhancing security and stability in the region. As highlighted in the press, these projects are pivotal in preventing threats and consolidating the country’s defense capabilities.

HACA releases 2024-2025 activity report

The High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA) presented its annual report for 2024-2025, outlining its efforts to regulate and promote a responsible media landscape. The report, presented by HACA President Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, emphasizes the need for strategic foresight and regulatory anticipation to ensure a credible and resilient media space.

Tabaski celebrations and religious observances

The national council for Islamic affairs (COSIM) has officially set the date for Tabaski celebrations this year. The holiday will be observed on May 27, 2026, aligning with the lunar calendar traditions of the Ivorian Muslim community.

In anticipation of the festivities, local authorities have been monitoring livestock prices to ensure fair market conditions. Minister Sidi Touré has called on the Muslim community to prioritize the purchase of locally sourced cattle, emphasizing the importance of supporting national agricultural producers amidst structural challenges.

Legislative updates and governance initiatives
