On Friday, July 17, 2026, Chadian President, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, dispatched a high-level diplomatic mission to Yaoundé, carrying a personal communication for his Cameroonian counterpart, Paul Biya.

The delegation was led by Dr. Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, and Chadians Abroad. Accompanying him were Mahamat Saleh Abdeldjelil, Special Advisor to the Head of State; Fatima Haram Acyl, Minister of Oil, Mines, and Geology; and Hassan Adoum Younousmi, Director General of the Telecommunications Sector Regulatory Agency (ARSAT).

As President Biya was abroad at the time, the Chadian representatives were welcomed at the illustrious Etoudi Palace by Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, the Minister of State and Secretary General of the Presidency of Cameroon.

While the precise details of the presidential message were not disclosed, the head of the Chadian mission affirmed its purpose was to underscore the exceptional relationship shared by the two heads of state and their respective nations. He elaborated that this initiative reflects the unwavering commitment of both countries’ highest authorities to further deepen their cooperation and sustain continuous dialogue on matters of mutual importance.

Beyond the formal message delivery, discussions during the visit also delved into future cooperation opportunities across various strategic sectors vital to the Chadian and Cameroonian economies. These talks specifically addressed bolstering partnerships in economic development, energy, and infrastructure, all within the broader context of a shared ambition to advance sub-regional integration.

This diplomatic endeavor is a continuation of the enduring privileged relationship that N’Djamena and Yaoundé have cultivated over many decades. It powerfully demonstrates both states’ dedication to maintaining a consistent framework for consultation and strengthening the profound historical, political, and economic bonds that unite these neighboring countries.
