According to Mustapha Ngouana, Cameroon has grown used to broken promises and unmet commitments.
Appearing on the programme “Droit de réponse” on Equinoxe Tv, Mustapha Ngouana painted a picture of a recurring pattern of unfulfilled pledges in Cameroon.
“The president of the Republic of Cameroon has repeatedly made decisions whose deadlines were never respected. Let us take a few examples. For the Africa Cup of Nations, the president said it would be held on the set date. It was not. The president had fifty years to prepare the fiftieth anniversary of reunification; it was supposed to be celebrated in 2011, but it actually took place in 2014,” wrote Mustapha Ngouana on the show.
The debate centred on the theme: “Broken trust: public opinion facing unkept promises.” Mustapha Ngouana addressed this topic by highlighting what he called “permanent missteps” in the head of state’s governance.
“I believe the president is in a state of perpetual governance errors. Our country is at a standstill. When people even speak of poor governance, I think they are being kind; in reality, it is non-governance. Cameroon is on autopilot.”
