Government announces major civil service recruitment drive for 2026

Cameroon’s Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reform has officially launched the 2026 recruitment cycle, opening 2,305 positions across various government departments. Minister Joseph LE issued the call for applications on June 4, detailing participation procedures through 36 separate decrees that outline the competitive exams, training programmes, professional assessments, and selection tests.

The breakdown of available posts reflects a mix of standard and special recruitment channels. For regular hires, 890 slots are available: 470 through direct competitions targeting financial administration, agriculture, mining and geology, civil engineering, livestock and maritime fisheries, telecommunications, and public health; 100 places via training courses at the National Institute of Youth and Sports (INJS) and the National Youth and Sports Centres (CENAJES); 220 spots through the National School of Administration and Magistracy (ENAM) training programme; and 100 positions via a selection test.

Special recruitment, approved by the President, focuses on health and education sectors with 1,200 posts. This includes 1,000 openings for free auditors at the Higher Teacher Training Schools (ENS/ENSET) and 200 positions for medical specialists. The latter complement 920 additional health worker jobs already announced on April 7 and 10, 2026. Minister LE stressed that free auditor candidates must, at the time of application, choose the school where they wish to serve and will take their exam at the regional centre hosting that institution.

Lastly, 215 positions will be filled through professional competitions for existing public servants.

This year’s total of 2,305 posts represents a drop of 555 compared to 2025, when the government opened 2,860 positions.
