Ouagadougou — Burkina Faso has taken a significant leap in digitalizing its public policies by unveiling Dɛmɛ Sira, a groundbreaking digital platform designed to enhance national solidarity. Officially launched on June 2, 2026, this initiative marks a new era in citizen engagement and social cohesion through technology.

The launch ceremony held in the capital was led by Lieutenant-Colonel Passowendé Pélagie Kabré/Kaboré, Minister of Family and Solidarity, alongside Dr Aminata Zerbo/Sabané, Minister of Digital Transition, Posts, and Electronic Communications, who served as the event’s patron.

Translating to “the path of solidarity”, Dɛmɛ Sira is a digital tool conceived to simplify and amplify citizen contributions to humanitarian and social initiatives benefiting vulnerable populations. Accessible to all Burkinabè—whether within the country or abroad—the platform aims to foster a direct, transparent, and efficient channel for public solidarity participation.

Hosted on the Ministry of Solidarity’s official portal, the platform aligns with Burkina Faso’s broader strategy to modernize public action by integrating digital solutions into governance mechanisms. The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to building a more inclusive solidarity model, leveraging digital opportunities to strengthen social cohesion.

During the ceremony, the Minister of Family and Solidarity emphasized that Dɛmɛ Sira reflects the authorities’ ambition to create a participatory framework where technology bridges gaps, ensuring equitable access to social support. She also commended the technical and institutional teams behind the platform’s development for their dedication.

By deploying Dɛmɛ Sira, Burkina Faso seeks to reinforce citizen mobilization mechanisms, improve the efficiency of social actions, and enhance their traceability and accessibility for the most vulnerable. This initiative also highlights Africa’s growing trend of leveraging digital public platforms not just for administrative services but as catalysts for civic engagement and social cohesion.

The platform’s launch coincides with a broader regional movement toward digital transformation, positioning Burkina Faso as a pioneer in integrating technology into social welfare systems.
