Benin’s president Romuald Wadagni in Lomé for strategic talks with Togo

On Wednesday, Romuald Wadagni, President of the Republic of Benin, arrived in Lomé for a working visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties with neighboring Togo. The visit marks a key moment in the ongoing efforts to deepen collaboration between both nations.

Upon landing at the Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport, the Beninese leader was greeted by Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, President of the Togolese Council, in a high-level meeting focused on shared development goals, regional integration, and sub-regional stability.

This engagement is part of President Wadagni’s ongoing regional tour since his inauguration on May 24, highlighting the pivotal role of Lomé as a hub for political dialogue and diplomatic coordination in West Africa.

A formal welcome ceremony was organized at the airport, drawing top officials including heads of state institutions, government members, parliamentarians, and local leaders from the Greater Lomé area.

Strengthening trade, security, and infrastructure

Beyond the ceremonial aspects, the visit underscores both countries’ commitment to reinforcing cooperation in critical sectors such as trade, infrastructure, energy, and the free movement of people and goods.

Historically connected by shared borders and cultural ties, Benin and Togo continue to prioritize a dynamic partnership that supports regional growth and integration.

A partnership built on shared vision

With deep historical and geographical bonds, both nations are reinforcing their alliance to foster sustainable development and closer regional cooperation.
