The governments of Algeria and Chad have formalized a landmark agreement in N’Djamena to fast-track infrastructure and public works projects between the two nations.

This pact, inked during a high-level coordination meeting in Chad’s capital, reinforces bilateral collaboration and expedites the implementation of initiatives agreed upon in their April memorandum of understanding. The announcement comes on the second day of an official Algerian delegation’s working visit to Chad, as confirmed by the Algerian Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure.

Trans-Saharan highway study launches as part of bilateral cooperation

The agreement was signed by Algeria’s Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, and Chad’s Minister of Infrastructure, Road Unblocking, and Maintenance, Amir Idriss Kourda. The signing ceremony was attended by key figures including the Director-General of Algeria’s Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, the Algerian Ambassador to Chad, and executives from the Cosider Group and Algeria’s National Public Works Company (SNTP).

On the Chadian side, the delegation included the Minister Delegate for Infrastructure and senior officials. During discussions, Chad’s Infrastructure Minister highlighted the “rapid momentum” in executing bilateral agreements, citing tangible progress since the April accord in Algiers. He particularly emphasized the ongoing technical exchanges and the initiation of feasibility studies for the trans-Saharan highway project across Chadian territory.
