Pope Léon XIV has appointed Monsignor Andrew Nkea Fuanya as a member of the Section for the First Evangelisation and the New Particular Churches of the Dicastery for Evangelisation. This appointment has been welcomed by Me Akere Muna.
Andrew Nkea Fuanya has been elevated by Pope Léon XIV. The prelate has been named a member of the Section for the First Evangelisation and the New Particular Churches within the Dicastery for Evangelisation. His responsibilities will include assisting the Holy See in fostering the growth of young churches and guiding global missionary efforts.
This decision has drawn praise from Akere Muna, a prominent figure in Cameroonian civil society. According to the lawyer, this appointment is not only a profound recognition of Nkea’s pastoral wisdom, tireless service, and unwavering dedication to the Church, but also a powerful testament to the light he continues to bring to Cameroon, Africa, and the universal Church.
“I am convinced that in this new mission, he will continue to serve with the same courage, clarity, and fatherly compassion that have marked his ministry over the years,” the lawyer wrote. Monsignor Andrew Nkea was appointed Metropolitan Archbishop of Bamenda in 2019. Elected president of the National Episcopal Conference of Cameroon on 30 April 2022, he has been a key player in peace dialogue efforts in crisis-affected regions.
