The disciplinary committee of France’s top football division will deliver its ruling following the chaotic scenes that cut short the match between Nantes and Toulouse last Sunday. Here’s what to expect.
The fallout from the pitch invasion at Stade de la Beaujoire on 17 May is set to be addressed by the Ligue de football professionnel (LFP) disciplinary panel. The match was abandoned during the first half after supporters stormed the field, forcing an immediate halt to proceedings. While investigations continue, the LFP has confirmed that a decision will be reached at its next scheduled meeting on 27 May—later than initially anticipated.
The league is not expected to order a replay, given the season’s conclusion and players’ commitments elsewhere. Instead, officials are likely to award Toulouse a 3-0 forfeit victory, though a 0-0 score at the time of abandonment remains a possible outcome. Either decision would leave Toulouse in ninth place for the season.
For Nantes, the repercussions could be severe. Already relegated to Ligue 2, the club faces potential sanctions including partial or full stadium closures—particularly the Loire stand from which the pitch invasion originated—and possible point deductions. While no injuries were reported, FC Nantes will likely argue for leniency in any penalties imposed.
