Seven humanitarian non-governmental organizations are set to host a photographic exhibition in Brussels, at the Halles Saint-Géry, from January 23 to February 12. Titled “In Their Eyes,” this exhibition aims to raise public awareness about the profound humanitarian crisis impacting over 6.4 million individuals across Mali.

This impactful exhibition is a collaborative effort by several distinguished humanitarian organizations: Médecins du Monde, Action contre la Faim, the Norwegian Refugee Council, the Danish Refugee Council, International Medical Corps, the International Rescue Committee, and Première Urgence Internationale, with crucial backing from the European Union.
Visitors will experience approximately thirty photographs captured by the talented Malian photographer, Tiécoura N’Daou. These powerful images were taken in September 2025 across the Gao and Mopti regions, where the partner NGOs are actively implementing projects supported by the European Union. According to the event organizers, the primary objective is to document the crisis “through the eyes of those who live it every day,” offering compelling narratives of communities grappling with displacement and loss, alongside showcasing the dedicated work of humanitarian personnel.
The humanitarian situation in Mali is described as particularly “alarming” by these NGOs. Currently, more than 400,000 individuals are internally displaced within the country, with women and children constituting the majority. Furthermore, 1.5 million people are facing a severe food crisis, and 1.5 million children under the age of five are suffering from acute malnutrition. Disturbingly, over 35,000 human rights violations were documented in Mali during 2024 alone.
