The Union Démocratique du Cameroun demands justice for Jacques Bertrand Mang

Through its president, Patricia Tomaino Ndam Njoya, the Union Démocratique du Cameroun (UDC) has expressed deep indignation regarding the reported inhuman treatment of a fellow citizen. The political party is monitoring the situation of activist Jacques Bertrand Mang with great concern, following allegations that he was subjected to torture and physical abuse.

The UDC has issued a stern condemnation of these practices, which are strictly forbidden by the Cameroun Constitution. According to the party leadership, if these reports are confirmed, they represent a flagrant violation of human rights and the fundamental principles of the rule of law. The political group maintains that no form of social activism or personal dispute can ever justify the use of violence or degrading treatment by authorities.

In a formal communication, the UDC urged the government to launch a comprehensive investigation into the incident. The goal is to ensure the physical and moral safety of Jacques Bertrand Mang while guaranteeing that his legal rights are fully respected. The activist is well-known for his outspoken stance on social inequality, governance challenges, and the daily struggles faced by the people of Cameroun.

The latest controversy surrounding Jacques Bertrand Mang stems from an incident on June 30, 2026, in the city of Douala. Reports indicate that the activist suffered mistreatment within a local police station. During a live broadcast on his Facebook page, Mang was heard requesting his release, only to be told by officers that he could not leave while in an agitated state. Despite several attempts to depart, he was forced to remain at the station to wait for a superior officer.

This is not the first time Jacques Bertrand Mang has faced such challenges. He has previously been detained and even forcibly placed in a psychiatric facility against his will. His public videos and social media posts frequently target the actions of the police, gendarmerie, customs, and municipal authorities, as well as high-ranking politicians. Current reports suggest that he has been placed in police custody following this latest confrontation.
