The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Professional Training recently hosted a pivotal national workshop in N’Djamena to validate a groundbreaking diagnostic report on the digital transformation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Chad. The two-day session, held on July 10, 2026, brought together key stakeholders to review, refine, and endorse a comprehensive analysis that will shape the future of digitalized TVET policies in the country.
This initiative aligns with the Pan-African TVET Digital Transformation Initiative, supported by UNESCO, the International Organisation of La Francophonie, the African Union, the African Development Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, and the GIZ-SIFA program. The pre-strategy assessment engaged over 200 participants from 57 TVET centers and related institutions through extensive field missions and digital data collection across all national academies, ensuring a robust and inclusive evaluation of current challenges and opportunities.
Addressing the workshop on behalf of the Secretary of State for Higher Education, Dr. Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics, and Digitalization, emphasized the critical role of digital transformation in aligning Chad’s vocational training systems with rapid technological advancements and evolving labor market demands. He highlighted the government’s commitment to leveraging digital tools as a cornerstone for modernizing TVET, stressing that the validated report will address key barriers such as governance gaps, digital infrastructure deficits, connectivity issues, energy supply constraints, and the urgent need for educator training in digital competencies.
The validated report will serve as the foundation for developing the National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET and its corresponding 2026-2030 action plan. The goal is to establish a forward-thinking, high-performance vocational training ecosystem that meets national employment demands while fostering sustainable development through digitally empowered education.
