Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, representing the Malagasy head of state, recently undertook an important journey to N’Djamena, Chad. The primary objectives of his visit were to reinforce bilateral relations and to actively engage with the Malagasy diaspora. A key highlight of his trip was a direct interaction with approximately twenty Malagasy nationals residing in Chad. During this meeting, he emphasized the significant contribution of the diaspora, asserting, “Our diaspora represents a formidable strength for Madagascar. Their diverse skills and expertise must be increasingly recognized and integrated.”
Beyond these crucial discussions, the visit also sought to inject new energy into economic and professional exchanges between Madagascar and Chad. The free flow of expertise and the mutual sharing of experiences were identified as pivotal mechanisms for enhancing Madagascar’s overall presence and influence across the African continent.
A significant part of Colonel Randrianirina’s schedule included his participation in Chad’s 66th independence anniversary celebrations, which took place yesterday in N’Djamena. He attended the festivities at the personal invitation of Marshal Idriss Mahamat, the President of Chad, and was joined by General Horta N’Tam, President of Guinea-Bissau. Colonel Randrianirina characterized this high-level assembly as an invaluable opportunity to “strengthen intra-African cooperation.” He further disclosed that the Chadian President has expressed a clear willingness to visit Madagascar, aiming to foster further dialogue and identify concrete avenues for collaboration between the two nations.
