Sénégal : l’économiste Ahmadou Al Aminou Lô nommé Premier ministre après le limogeage de Sonko

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal officially appointed Ahmadou Al Aminou Lô, a distinguished economist and former official of the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO), to lead the nation’s government. The announcement of this significant decision came on Monday, May 25, via a presidential decree broadcast on public television, entrusting Mr. Lô with the pivotal role of Prime Minister.
Prior to this elevation, Mr. Lô served as Secretary-General within the initial government established by President Faye, who assumed power in April 2014. He later transitioned into a ministerial position before his current appointment.
This key appointment follows the dismissal of Ousmane Sonko, which occurred just four days earlier. The change in leadership comes amidst persistent tensions that had reportedly simmered for several months between the two former executive heads of this influential West African nation.
