With the PASTEF party’s congress just two days away, Presidential Adviser Aldiouma Sow took a firm stand to address recent remarks by Ousmane Sonko. In a strongly worded statement, he defended President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, firmly rejecting allegations and rumors of a supposed “secret pact” allegedly made during his detention at Cap Manuel.

Aldiouma Sow made it clear that the Head of State never engaged in any covert agreements during his imprisonment. He emphasized that President Diomaye Faye remained steadfast in his political principles and commitments throughout the process that led to the 2024 democratic transition.

The Presidential Adviser also dismissed claims that the President participated in any scheme to undermine the people’s sovereign right to choose their leader. “He never engaged in any attempt to hijack the Senegalese people’s democratic will,” Aldiouma Sow declared, underscoring the President’s dedication to preserving electoral integrity.

He further elaborated on President Diomaye Faye’s approach to political dialogue, describing it not as a temporary tactic or a means to manipulate power dynamics, but as a core value shaping his governance style. According to Aldiouma Sow, dialogue for the President is a fundamental principle guiding both his political and institutional actions.

This statement arrives amid growing discussions and questions within the PASTEF majority and among its supporters, as the party prepares for its highly anticipated congress. Aldiouma Sow’s remarks reignite debates about the relationship between Senegal’s two top executive figures and the future direction of the government.
