In a historic session convened on Thursday, August 6, 2026, in Porto-Novo, the newly formed Senate of Benin elected its first leadership team, positioning Patrice Talon at its helm. The assembly, marking a constitutional milestone, elected Talon as president, with Louis Vlavonou, Alassane Séidou, and Adidjatou Mathys filling the remaining key roles.
The establishment of this inaugural Bureau represents a pivotal moment in Benin’s parliamentary evolution. For the first time, the upper chamber now has a structured governance framework to oversee its administrative and legislative functions, ensuring seamless operationalization.
