« I want tomorrow the FEG to be recognised not only for defending businesses, but above all for making them succeed. »

This was the wish expressed by Alain Claude Kouakoua, president of the Fédération des entreprises du Gabon (FEG), during the opening ceremony of the second edition of the Gabon Economic Forum (GEF), on Saturday 27 June 2026 at the Palais des Congrès.

The event brings together decision-makers and international partners as a platform designed to address Gabon’s economic challenges.

Speaking pragmatically, the FEG leader stressed that no country has developed without strong businesses. For him, the company is not a peripheral actor—it is the driving force.

For his part, Vice-President of the Republic Hugues Alexandre Barro Chambrier underlined the government’s understanding and support for the private sector: « The state will do its part to ensure that the clean-up of public finances allows settling, in due time, what must be paid to private companies. »

A committed speech, raising a strong ambition: « to build a diversified economy, less dependent on raw materials and more oriented towards industrialisation. »

This forum therefore symbolises a robust dialogue to carry forward the economic stakes and objectives of Gabon.
