I want tomorrow’s FEG to be known not just for defending businesses, but above all for making them successful.

That was the wish expressed by Alain Claude Kouakoua, president of the Gabon Business Federation (FEG), during the opening ceremony of the second edition of the Gabon Economic Forum (GEF) on Saturday, 27 June 2026 at the Palais des Congrès.

This gathering, which brings together decision-makers and international partners, serves as a platform aimed at addressing Gabon’s economic challenges.

Taking a pragmatic stance, the FEG president emphasised that no country has ever developed without strong businesses. For him, the enterprise is not a peripheral actor but the engine of progress.

For his part, Vice President of the Republic Hugues Alexandre Barro Chambrier underlined the state’s commitment and support for the private sector: “The state will do its part to ensure that the cleanup of public finances allows for timely payment of what is owed to private companies.

His speech carried a strong ambition: “to build a diversified economy, less dependent on raw materials and more oriented toward industrialisation.

This forum symbolises robust dialogue aimed at advancing Gabon’s economic goals and challenges.
