A momentous occasion unfolded this Sunday as Morocco’s national carrier, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), launched its inaugural direct service connecting Casablanca with Los Angeles. This pioneering route signifies a historic stride, establishing the first-ever nonstop air link between the African continent and the Pacific coast of the United States.

The maiden flight departed Mohammed V International Airport at precisely 04:00, embarking on a direct journey anticipated to last 12 hours.

This significant launch coincides with the celebration of two and a half centuries of diplomatic friendship between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States. Furthermore, it aligns perfectly with the kickoff of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Morocco’s national football team, the Atlas Lions, are set to compete.

“The introduction of this route represents a historic milestone for Royal Air Maroc and for enhancing air connectivity across the African continent,” stated Hamid Addou, Chairman and CEO of RAM. “By bridging Morocco closer to the American West Coast, we are reaffirming our pivotal role and steadfast commitment to elevating Morocco’s presence on the global stage.”

The newly established service will operate three times a week, utilizing state-of-the-art wide-body aircraft. Flights are scheduled for Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Departures from Casablanca are set for 04:00, arriving in Los Angeles at 08:20 local time. Return flights will leave California at 10:20, touching down in Casablanca the following day at 05:25.

This expansion is an integral part of the national airline’s comprehensive development plan, formalized through an agreement with the government in July 2023. The initiative aims to solidify Casablanca’s position as a vital air hub connecting Africa, Europe, and the Americas, while simultaneously addressing the robust demand from the Moroccan diaspora, tourists, business travelers, and football enthusiasts.

With this inauguration, RAM reinforces its strong foothold in North America, complementing its existing direct routes to major cities such as New York, Washington, Miami, Montreal, and Toronto.
