Peru reaffirms support for Morocco’s autonomy plan and territorial sovereignty

The incoming Peruvian government has pledged to uphold Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its southern provinces, as announced by the office of President-elect Keiko Fujimori.

This position was conveyed during a meeting between the President-elect and the Moroccan Ambassador to Peru, Amin Chaoudri, who presented a congratulatory message from His Majesty King Mohammed VI following her election as Peru’s President.

The upcoming Peruvian administration’s commitment to supporting Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its southern provinces was highlighted during the discussion. President-elect Keiko Fujimori also reiterated her full endorsement of UN Security Council Resolution 2797, which recognizes the autonomy plan as the basis for a lasting solution to the regional dispute over the Sahara, according to an official statement.

In her congratulatory message to Ms. Fujimori, His Majesty King Mohammed VI warmly praised the trust placed in her by the Peruvian people to advance progress and prosperity in the country.

Emphasizing the strong and friendly ties between Morocco and Peru, rooted in mutual respect and shared values, the Monarch expressed his determination to work alongside the Peruvian President to elevate bilateral relations to a comprehensive partnership that benefits both nations.
