Ousmane Sonko, the president of Pastef, has strongly urged his supporters to stop using insults and mocking nicknames directed at authorities. He condemned such counterproductive behaviour and called for a debate strictly centred on ideas and the party’s programme.
Speaking at a gathering in Dakar Arena, the leader of the Patriotes appealed to his militants to show restraint, warning them against the trap of verbal attacks. According to him, these mockeries resemble provocations designed to create legal grievances that could lead to imprisonment for those responsible. Sonko thus urged the youth and sympathisers of the ruling party to elevate the level of political debate by remaining focused on programmatic proposals and constructive idea exchanges.
Setting the party’s new strategic direction, the President of the National Assembly asked his troops to concentrate on grassroots work. He invited them to travel across the entire national territory to expand and durably strengthen the political formation’s base. Finally, stressing the organisational future of Pastef, he reminded everyone of the urgent need to reinforce the political and intellectual training of militants in order to consolidate the party’s republican foundation.
