The President of Senegal’s National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, shared his deep sadness upon learning of the passing of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, the revered Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family in Guinguinéo. Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké was called to God on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

In a moving message of condolence, Ousmane Sonko honored the memory of the spiritual leader, recalling the many occasions he met with him during his visits to Guinguinéo.

“It is with profound emotion and immense sorrow that I received the news of the return to God of Serigne Abdou Bakhi Mbacké, Khalife of the Khassim Mbacké family of Guinguinéo,” Sonko stated.

The prominent political figure further highlighted the late leader’s remarkable human qualities, remembering the genuine warmth and kindness he consistently extended during each of their encounters.

“In every one of these meetings, he showed us a special affection, a welcoming spirit, and a benevolence that left a profound impression on us,” Ousmane Sonko emphasized.

During this solemn period of mourning, Sonko conveyed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved family, the Khalife general des Mourides, the religious community of Guinguinéo, and indeed, to the entire Senegalese nation.

“May Allah, in His boundless mercy, grant him forgiveness and welcome him into His eternal Paradise,” he prayed.
