New logistical support boosts Mali’s security forces capabilities
Bamako — Mali’s security sector has received a significant boost with the handover of twenty new vehicles and specialized equipment to its security forces. Funded entirely through national resources, this initiative aims to enhance operational readiness across multiple security agencies.
Equipment distribution ceremony highlights national commitment
The handover ceremony took place on July 31, 2026, under the leadership of General of Division Daoud Aly MOHAMMEDINE. The event marked a critical step in strengthening Mali’s security infrastructure through domestically funded resources.
The delivered fleet includes six 60-seat buses, a recovery vehicle, two 20,000-liter Spiros tankers, eight 4,000-liter fire tankers, and three 50,000-liter fire and pump combination tankers. These assets have been allocated to the National Police, Civil Protection, National Gendarmerie, National Guard, and the Staff School of the Security Forces.
Leadership underscores strategic importance of logistics
During the ceremony, General MOHAMMEDINE emphasized that these acquisitions reflect the transitional leadership’s commitment under President General Assimi GOÏTA to bolster operational capabilities. The focus on enhanced logistics aims to improve mobility and rapid response times to address emerging security threats across the country.
General of Brigade Boucary KODIO, Director General of Civil Protection, reaffirmed the recipients’ dedication to maintaining these assets to the highest standards. The event concluded with a live demonstration showcasing the fire tankers’ emergency response capabilities.

This logistical upgrade represents a targeted investment to fill critical gaps in Mali’s security apparatus. By equipping frontline forces with specialized vehicles, the government is positioning its security agencies to respond more effectively to both conventional and emergency scenarios.
