N’Djamena’s mayor, Sanoussi Hassana Abdoulaye, recently led a significant delegation on an inspection tour of the Hilton executive site. The visit, which took place on Thursday, May 28, 2026, aimed to assess the currently damaged infrastructure as part of crucial flood prevention initiatives for the city.

During the visit, Mr. Gadengar Roasna Rodrigue, the Director of Urban Planning for the central municipality, underscored the profound strategic importance of the Hilton executive site for N’Djamena. He explained that this vital location plays a dual role: it effectively channels rainwater away from the city towards the river, yet it also possesses the capacity to redirect river waters back into the urban area during periods of heavy fluvial flooding.

Mr. Rodrigue further elaborated that the structure is currently experiencing minor damage, specifically noting the deterioration of its protective flap, which is essential for safeguarding against river-induced inundations. Despite this, he confirmed that several preparatory activities have already been initiated in anticipation of the upcoming rainy season.

On-site, Mayor Sanoussi Hassana Abdoulaye issued firm instructions to the municipal road department. He mandated that all necessary measures be taken to ensure the prompt repair of this critical flap within the next few days, emphasizing the urgency of the task to mitigate potential flood risks.
