Morocco and the United Kingdom are joining forces to double bilateral trade volumes while accelerating mutual investments, leveraging the momentum of major infrastructure projects linked to the 2030 FIFA World Cup, officials announced in Rabat.
During the opening of the Morocco-UK Business Forum, held on June 2 and 3 in Rabat and Casablanca, British Minister of State for International Trade Chris Bryant underscored the importance of expanding trade flows and deepening economic ties. He highlighted the 2030 World Cup as a transformative catalyst to enhance Morocco’s appeal, upgrade infrastructure, and create lasting benefits for future generations.
Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour emphasized that the tournament represents more than just a sporting event. It serves as a strategic driver to modernize transport networks, healthcare systems, and public facilities across the kingdom. Beyond the competition, Morocco is rolling out an ambitious eight-year national development plan aimed at reshaping its economic and territorial landscape.
Addressing British business leaders, Mezzour invited companies to participate in Morocco’s public procurement initiatives and transformative projects, positioning the country as a key player in global value chains. He stressed a shift from mere technology transfers toward collaborative ventures rooted in investment, innovation, and enhanced competitiveness.
The forum, attended by nearly 50 British firms specializing in infrastructure, transport, security, engineering, design, and professional services, reflects growing commercial interest ahead of the 2030 World Cup.
