Mason Greenwood is on the verge of leaving Olympique de Marseille as the club seeks to strengthen its financial position. AS Roma, after securing a spot in the Champions League, has emerged as a strong contender for the English forward. Marseille’s leadership hopes to secure at least €50 million from the transfer, with a portion of that going to Manchester United. However, AS Roma is confident it can acquire the striker for around €40 million plus bonuses.

AS Roma believes it can force Marseille to lower the price
Despite Marseille’s firm stance, the Italian club is confident it can finalise the deal for less than the asking price. Roma expects to pay €40 million plus add-ons for Greenwood. The French club is under pressure to raise funds quickly, as the DNCG, French football’s financial watchdog, has requested additional documents from Marseille before making its decision.
What price will OM accept for Greenwood?
Will Olympique de Marseille ultimately accept less than €50 million for Mason Greenwood as Roma’s management believes? Some analysts consider the current asking price already reasonable. Football commentator Karim Bennani recently stated: “I see other prices being set across Europe today. Honestly, a player capable of scoring around 20 goals each season in Ligue 1 for that price is a bargain. If I were OM, I would wait until after the July 1 clause increases the price to €60 million to find a buyer.”
