The Malian Armed Forces (FAMA) have declared a decisive shift in momentum, asserting full operational control over regions previously targeted by coordinated assaults. These attacks were attributed to the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad (MNLA) in northern Mali and the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM), an Al-Qaeda-affiliated faction, across central and southern territories.
In a formal statement released by military command, officials confirmed sustained clashes on Sunday near Anifif, a strategic locality situated 110 kilometers south of Kidal. The confrontation followed the arrival of additional fighters and military equipment dispatched to reinforce MNLA positions in the area.
Military sources emphasized that FAMA units engaged with unwavering resolve, executing operations throughout the day with exceptional discipline and bravery. The statement underscored the army’s unshakable conviction in its capacity to safeguard national sovereignty, protect civilian populations, and dismantle hostile forces threatening Mali’s territorial integrity.
Meanwhile, a representative of the MNLA, Mohamed Mouloud Ramadan, had previously asserted control over Anifif following the resumption of hostilities. He also refuted rumors regarding the death of the group’s leader, Mbarek Ag Akli, insisting that Ag Akli remains actively involved in directing military operations across northern Mali.
