The government of Mali is entering a decisive new phase of collaboration with the World Bank to fortify the national education sector. In Bamako, the Minister of National Education, Amadou Sy Savané, held discussions with a World Bank delegation led by Awa Cissé Wagué. The talks focused on upcoming projects intended to enhance human capital and elevate the overall performance of the educational framework.
A comprehensive development strategy
This renewed partnership is part of a broader development roadmap supported by the financial institution. Beyond education, the strategy encompasses vital sectors such as modernizing agriculture and expanding access to electricity across the country.
This move builds upon existing programs. A significant $150 million support package, facilitated through the International Development Association (IDA), was previously established to maintain essential health and education services. This funding is set to impact over one million students by facilitating school enrollment, organizing national examinations, and improving classroom environments.
