Waly Diouf Bodian, a key political figure in Pastef, has responded sharply to recent comments by Professor Mary Teuw Niang about verbal violence and respect in public discourse. The politician accuses the former higher education minister of inconsistency after his attacks on Pastef leader Ousmane Sonko.
Bodian flatly rejects the academic’s calls for calm and questions his institutional stance. “After calling President Ousmane Sonko an impostor, Mary Teuw Niang now lectures us on verbal violence and respect for others. It’s too late, professor,” Bodian said. He continued: “Your literary Sunday nonsense no longer works with us patriots. We do not respect those who do not respect Ousmane Sonko.” He concluded by accusing Niang of abandoning national values to align with those in power.
