The narrative surrounding Ferran Torres’s potential transfer is evolving rapidly. The Barcelona forward is set to participate in a World Cup semi-final on Tuesday, July 14, against France before a possible move from Spain to the French capital. Paris Saint-Germain is actively pursuing his acquisition, and head coach Luis Enrique has reportedly executed a strategic move that has significantly influenced the transfer discussions.

Luis Enrique himself had indicated during an interview with TNT Sports on May 30, the evening of the PSG’s second consecutive Champions League triumph, that squad adjustments were on the horizon for the transfer window. With Gonçalo Ramos having departed for AC Milan and Kang-in Lee reportedly en route to Atletico Madrid, the Parisian club is now considering Ferran Torres to fill the void left by Ramos’s exit.

Luis Enrique pens a letter to Ferran Torres amidst transfer talks

The 26-year-old forward, whose contract with FC Barcelona runs until June 2027, is currently engaged in the World Cup with the Spanish national team. Following the tournament, Ferran Torres is expected to take a summer break, during which he will reportedly discuss a potential future contract with PSG officials. In the wake of Gonçalo Ramos’s transfer, PSG management has reportedly initiated efforts to secure Torres’s signature. Having previously worked with Torres during his tenure as La Roja’s national team coach, Luis Enrique has also reportedly taken direct action.

PSG makes contact for the player

The coach of Paris Saint-Germain is said to have penned a personal letter to Ferran Torres, aiming to convince him that joining PSG is the optimal career move. This gesture is believed to have played a crucial role in the rapid progression of the Torres transfer saga. Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Saturday that negotiations are advancing smoothly, stating that Ferran Torres has only one year remaining on his Barcelona contract, and behind the scenes, PSG has established contact regarding the player. PSG is currently in discussions with Torres’s representatives, expressing keen interest. Following Gonçalo Ramos’s departure, Torres could directly replace him, offering versatility across multiple attacking positions, including as a number nine or a winger. Ferran Torres is indeed a viable option for PSG, though he is not their only target.
